Sydney 2000 Olympic Games

Appointed Global Director for the Sydney Olympic Games at DB Schenker. Secured the contract as the official international freight logistics provider — one of the largest peacetime logistics exercises ever undertaken. Employed over 700 staff across 8 locations to service international and local transport needs. Flawless execution.

2002–2019

DB Schenker Australia/NZ — CEO

17 years at the helm. Built DB Schenker Australia into the second largest operation by revenue in APAC, after China. Average revenues of $800M with a CAGR of 5-10% and above-market growth. Led all business units — air freight, ocean freight, 3PL, domestic transport, projects, and events.

Key initiatives: offshoring of customs, finance, and operations for cost reduction; cool chain warehouse strategy reaching Top 10 FIATA export forwarder for perishables; expansion of 3PL footprint to 20 warehouses with 280,000 sqm. Hosted visit from Prime Minister Julia Gillard at Sydney HQ in 2014, recognising DB Schenker for nationally recognised training programs.

Managed relationships with major global companies across vertical markets: automotive, aerospace, electronics, consumer goods & retail, healthcare, perishables & food logistics, oil and gas projects, and renewable projects.

2006–2007

Bax Global Merger

When DB's shareholder acquired the global logistics provider Bax Global in 2006, Ron became CEO of the new joint company in Australia and New Zealand. Merger completed August 2007 with significant cost reduction gains and synergies captured throughout the process.

2012–2016

Gorgon LNG Project

Moved over 1 million freight tons of cargo in a 4-year period. Offices in Scotland, Thailand, Perth and Barrow Island for 250 staff. The largest project globally for DB Schenker ever.

2017

SB International Acquisition

Acquisition of SB International in Christchurch, New Zealand. Led a successful integration with cost reductions and full implementation of synergies.

2020–Present

National Intermodal Pty Ltd, Federal Government

Non-Executive Director and member of the Risk and Finance Committee. Overseeing the construction and operation of the Federal Government's $2B+ intermodal investment at Moorebank (Sydney) and terminals in Melbourne and Brisbane.

2023–Present

Partner. Secured Australian mandates for the sale of freight forwarding companies and successfully completed multiple sale transactions.

2025–Present

EnergyCo, NSW Government

Consultant supporting the logistics for the energy transition to renewables — windfarms, solar parks, and battery storage.

Grand Cross of the Order of Merit — Federal Republic of Germany. Awarded for supporting bilateral trade and recognition of the German industry in Australia.

2007–2019

German-Australian Chamber of Commerce — Chairman and Board member for 11 years. Led trade delegations, hosted Chancellor Merkel, met with ministers in both countries.
